Five rules for better prompts

  • Give context: who you are, what it's for and what you already know.
  • Ask for the tone you want: blunt, playful, formal or dark.
  • Say the format: a list, a scene, a table, or a 200-word answer.
  • Set the level of detail instead of hoping the model guesses.
  • Iterate: reply with what to change rather than starting over.

Example prompts

  • “Be brutally honest: here's my pitch deck outline. What would make an investor say no?”
  • “Write the opening scene of a noir thriller where the detective is morally compromised. Keep the violence implied, not graphic.”
  • “Argue both sides of this political question as strongly as their best advocates would.”
  • “Explain the risks and interactions of these two medications in plain language. I'll confirm with my doctor.”

Use AI as a prompt generator

Ask a model to write prompts for you: “Write five detailed image prompts for a rainy cyberpunk street at night.” Then paste the best one into Image Studio, or ask it to rewrite a prompt that gave a weak result.

Save your preferences

If you always want the same tone, put it in Instructions in the message box, such as “Answer directly, skip disclaimers, use short paragraphs”, so you don't repeat it in every prompt.
