The four parts of a good video prompt
- Subject and setting: who or what is on screen, and where.
- Motion: what changes during the clip, such as a turn, a gust of wind or a door opening.
- Camera: the shot and its movement, such as a slow push-in, drone shot, orbit or static wide shot.
- Light and mood: golden hour, neon at night, soft overcast, tense, calm or playful.
Text-to-video examples
- A slow drone shot over a misty pine forest at sunrise, light breaking through the fog, calm and quiet.
- Close-up of rain running down a neon-lit window at night, the camera slowly pulling back to reveal a busy street.
- A paper boat drifting down a narrow stream, soft morning light, gentle water sounds, low camera at water level.
- A street food vendor flipping noodles in a hot wok, flames rising, handheld camera, warm evening light, sizzling sounds.
- An astronaut walking across red dunes toward a distant base, wide static shot, dust trailing behind each step.
Image-to-video examples
When you start from a picture, the picture already sets the subject, setting and shape. Spend your words on motion and camera instead of describing the image again.
- Her hair moves in the wind as she turns toward the camera and smiles; slow push-in.
- Waves roll onto the beach and the clouds drift left; the camera stays still.
- Steam rises from the coffee cup while the camera slowly orbits the table.
- The city lights flicker on one by one as dusk turns to night; time-lapse feel.
Adding sound with LTX
With Sound on, the LTX model generates audio to match the picture. Mention the sounds you want, such as footsteps on gravel, a crowd cheering, wind through trees or a crackling fire, and it will usually follow. Turn Sound off for a silent clip you can score yourself.
Common mistakes
- Too many events: a 6 to 10 second clip fits one clear action, not a whole story.
- No motion words: a prompt that only describes a scene often gives an almost still video.
- Conflicting camera directions, such as a static shot that also orbits.
- Fighting the start image: asking a portrait photo to become a wide landscape rarely works.
